Small changes to your enquiry form can increase submissions by 50% or more. Here's what to fix.
Your contact form is the final hurdle between a potential customer and an enquiry. If it's too long, too complicated, or too intrusive, people will abandon it - and you'll never know they were interested. We've seen businesses double their form submission rate with a few simple changes.
The golden rule is: only ask for what you absolutely need. Name, phone number, and a brief description of the job. That's it. Every additional field you add reduces your completion rate by approximately 10%. You don't need their full address, email, postcode, and preferred callback time at the enquiry stage - get those details when you follow up.
Make the form visually prominent and easy to find. It should be above the fold on your landing page, with a clear heading like 'Get a Free Quote' or 'Request a Callback'. Use a contrasting colour for the submit button so it stands out against the page background. The button text should be action-oriented - 'Get My Free Quote' converts better than 'Submit'.
For mobile users, ensure each field uses the correct input type. Phone number fields should trigger a numeric keypad, email fields should show the @ keyboard, and text areas should be large enough to type into comfortably. Auto-fill support is also important - if the browser can pre-populate name and phone fields, conversion rates increase significantly.
